About the project

The Advanced Technology Centre project was a fast-track design and build to provide a much needed learning environment for an influx of new students arriving at the college after the summer. Sticking to a tight six-week programme, the aim was to create a separate space, independent of the main campus, to facilitate the new students in an up-to-date facility.

The works consisted of remodelling the existing buildings layout, including demolition, refurbishing existing classrooms and expanding into previously open plan spaces in order to create additional learning areas.

The works was inclusive of finishes, furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E) and associated Mechanical & Electrical (M&E), and also included the provision of a new catering facility to the main entrance area.

Progress so far

At handover, over 1,500m of suspended ceiling grid was installed, with equates to around 8,333 pencils laid end to end.

The project was a real team effort, with shared resource from I&G, and even managed to complete a day ahead of programme. The Client and the college staff were delighted, with the staff diving right in and adding a personal touch to their new space!
