Progress so far

With only 9 working weeks left until handover, we have been extremely busy on site over the past month working with various trades to help get the project completed.

Painting and decorating has begun on the second floor and is progressing well throughout. The joiners have been busy installing door frames, skirting and architrave ready for the doors to be delivered in the new year. We can really start to see the building come to life!

Tuckers Mechanical and Electrical have been busy installing the toilets throughout the building and finishing rooms off ready to hand back over to us for a final snag. They have also been working hard to get us the lighting on within the building to help keep people safe during the course of the day.

John Atkinsons have been busy installing the ceiling grid throughout the build and are rapidly coming to and end of their works. The last of the ground floor screed will be poured towards the end of the month and will be ready for other trades to continue their works very shortly. The teachers units within the classrooms have been installed on the second and first floors and we can now get a good image on what it will be like for the children when they start to come to school when we are finished.

Externally the blockwork has now been completed and the final touches will be done over the next few weeks just in time for the Christmas break. Scaffolding will start to come down as well to allow the groundworks contractor to begin.

We’ve put an open-door policy in place every Friday for Broadacre staff to come across and see the progress to their new school for themselves. We’ve had some amazing feedback and the countdown to completion is officially on!

Over the next two weeks

  • Groundworks to the externals will be underway
  • Scaffold to the external levels will be removed
  • The lift will be finished
  • Ceilings will be installed throughout
  • M&E second fix will be well underway
  • ATL will be installing the kitchen
  • CFI will be installing the vinyl flooring to various rooms
  • Joinery works will continue
  • Decorating will continue throughout the build

JINGLE BELLS!!!

Broadacre’s very own celebratory bell has now been installed by Martin Standley.

Martin rings the bell each time a milestone is hit on site, in recognition of all the good work and progress by the project team and sub-contractors.

We’re also in the midst of planning a selection of celebratory events for the school in the New Year, alongside our partners at Hull Esteem and Hull City Council . Watch this space – not long to go now!
