It's been a very busy summer for our Construction Services Team

I would like to thank the team for all the hard work and commitment they have once again shown over the summer period. All the feedback I have received from clients has been very positive and reflective of what I have experienced across all our sites.

To celebrate our success we had a night out bowling, and I think I can confidently say that we all celebrated well!

We have a secure workload for the rest of the year, and there are plenty of opportunities ahead of us.

To the team, keep up the hard work, continue following our Sewell behaviors, and we will be sure to finish on another very positive year.

Many thanks,
Geoff

Drax power station

Progress so far

We are currently running an excavation.

This has been done using four trench boxes to allow Drax to repair a “Plant critical pipeline” that had gone down. The pipeline is filtered water and blew the tarmac road in several places. There are only two filtered water lines, so it was essential that we acted swiftly on this so a repair could be done.

Orchard Dental Practice

Progress so far

The project involved us stripping out the existing break room of existing M&E services, kitchen units and flooring.

We then had to carry out investigative works to locate and identify the underfloor heating, which once done enabled us to create several core hole penetrations through the floor slab to allow us to get services through such as power, and hot and cold ventilation feeds.

Ventilation is required in the room ready for the new dental equipment and units. We then fire stopped the penetrations to comply with building control and made good the floor screed and installed new vinyl with coved skirtings.

Henry Schein (client appointed subcontractor) installed dentistry cabinetry, dentist chair, x-ray and other specialist equipment.

Kingswood Academy

Progress so far

The temporary classrooms (Phase 1) have now been handed back to the school ready for the new term to begin.

Phase 2 works to the West carpark have been slowed down at times, as we have allowed the access road around the carpark to remain open to assist the school to manage traffic more safely and efficiently.

We also reached a major milestone on site, with the steelworks well underway. This gave us an opportunity to invite the Prefect Students to sign one of the steel beams.

The site team have been extremely busy but took some time to get a little creative. They re-created the “Lunch atop a skyscraper” photograph taken in 1932 of 11 construction workers seating along a crossbeam of the RCA building in Manhatten, NYC.
