About the Project

We are excited to be working on expanding Costello Playing Field’s sports facilities. This project is the latest of many for Hull City Council and Hull Esteem, who we’ve been strategic partners with for over 15 years.

What the project will bring

A new pavilion hub alongside a high-quality, multi-purpose 3G pitch and expanded car-parking facilities. Located opposite the existing stadium, it’s been designed to enhance both community use and sporting opportunity, with a dedicated space to support a wide range of sports and activities, providing local teams, the general public, local schools and colleges with increased access to suitable training facilities. The project aims to improve accessibility and ensure the space can comfortably accommodate community fixtures and events.

Once complete, Costello will offer a modern, vibrant hub that brings people together, supports local sport and education, and strengthens the community for years to come.

Progress so far

Since November, the project has progressed significantly, with the foundations and drainage works nearing completion and scheduled to be fully connected within coming weeks.

The below ground blockwork for the building is almost complete, and the floor beams are in place. The ducting and trenching works alongside the stadium have been completed, ready for the M&E works to proceed.

With 3G pitch works, the weather has held up progress over the past couple weeks but we are now set to progress. Before the Christmas break, we also had a young student here for some work experience, Harry, on site with us to show him the site and the day-to-day operations.

What's next?

The Pavillion

Over the next few weeks the brick works have started and are expected to be completed in the coming weeks. The drainage work will soon be finished for the foul and surface water.

3G pitch

The stabilisation process on the 3G pitch has commenced and will continue over the next couple of weeks.

Digital Construction Academy

In the coming weeks we are looking to move forward with our Digital Construction Academy programme, where we will be getting students from Sirius Academy West involved in the project and give them a chance to see what a career in construction could look like.
