Project Description

The works comprise of the strip out and partial demolition of Unit G, small extension to the rear, new glazed shopfront, and cladding to the external elevations. Repair and recoating of existing clad roofs and gutter linings. Internal partitions, alterations to incoming services and underground drainage, external works, and repairs to the existing car park.

We have removed the equivalent of the below in scrap metal (weight) so far on the project…

  • 13 female African elephants
  • 76 Fiat 500 cars
  • 60,800 M&S Colin the caterpillars

Progress so far

We have

• Set up temporary fence line around the footprint of our site
• Set up site accommodation, including site office, meeting room, canteen, drying room and toilets
• Disconnect services to the existing unit including electric, water, gas and air conditioning
• Install temporary lighting and power to our site accommodation and inside the unit
• Strip out ground floor and first floor of all loose materials including, shelving, changing rooms, saunas and 60 mannequins
• Remove all internal plasterboard walls and block walls to the ground floor and 1st floor areas
• Removal of the rear extension to create a new loading bay and back of house entrance
• Infill the swimming pool to the rear of the unit to create the back of house area

Over the next two weeks

We will

• Remove the front curtain walling and two brick side panels to create the new shop front curtain walling
• Remove the rest of the walls internally to open up the unit to one large space
• Start to remove the mezzanine floor to create one large open space from floor to ceiling
• Works to the rear on the lift pit at the rear of the building to create a service entrance
• Foundations to the back elevation for new service area
• Infill and concrete the existing pool area
• Continue with drainage works externally for new connections
