We were kept busy over the school holidays with multiple, summer works across the region. Tasked with completing 12 projects over the summer, the challenge was on. But, as always, we were ready to conquer it and what a brilliant summer we had.
We successfully started and completed eight projects over the summer, with our last four projects due to complete in the next couple of weeks, either ahead of schedule or on time.
A big thank you to our clients and also our teams working on these projects from start to finish. You have all worked hard not only to deliver but to ensure that we send everyone home safely on an evening, with zero reportable accidents across all projects.
Take a look below at what we’ve been up to over the last six weeks.
Dorchester Primary School
Dorchester Primary saw the second phase of works, following on from the success of last summer. Once again we returned to work with Esteem to create further group classrooms for “Little Stars” an early years provision for Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficutlies (PMLD) Pupils attending Tweendykes School.
The project was successfully completed on time, with zero accidents.
The Marvell College
The Marvell College saw the infill of an open terrace on the 3rd floor to create a new class base, works include: stripping out the existing facilities, upgrading the ventilation, power and lighting, installing the gas and water, new furniture to the classrooms, suspended ceilings and vinyl flooring, windows, partition walls and installation of structural steelwork.
York schools - Refurbishment
Across York, upgrades and refurbishment works are also taking place on behalf of the local academy trust.
Refurbishment works took place at Dunnington School with an upgrade to their boiler room. Fulford school saw new suspended ceilings and lighting to the corridors across the building.
Work at Tweendykes School saw the utilisation of void space to create new admin spaces with a new pod constructed in the reception area.
Work included: forming the foundations, constructing a metal frame build with plasterboard partitioning, new suspended ceiling, upgrades to the lighting and ventilation, decoration work.
The colour scheme of the admin pod was in keeping with the school’s colours which are used to help the students with learning disabilities.
Work began for Humber NHS Teaching Foundation Trust to create new, required space at their Greentrees facility in Willerby. This work allows them to make the best use of space, providing additional areas for patients.
BMW - Installation
We have also been busy over the last few months, working with our long term partner BMW to install a new switchroom to allow them to increase their capacity to charge electric vehicles.
Fire door replacements
Working in partnership with our sister company, Illingworth & Gregory, we installed new fire doors across schools in Bradford, completing works on behalf of Stratus 9.
Over a total of 295 fire doors were installed.
University of Hull
After successfully completing two chemistry lab refurbishments in 2017, we were back at the University of Hull this summer to relocate their chemistry engineering room to a former chemistry laboratory. This meant moving over the specialist equipment to the new location and forming new desks and workspaces.
See what else we are up to
As well as successfully delivering these projects, we have also been busy over in York working to build a UK First, at The Centre of Excellence and neighbouring refurbishment at Lincoln Court, on behalf of York City Council.
We also completed work on the new multi-use games area for Hob Moor Primary School in York.

University of Leeds - Clarendon Building
Our partnership continues with the University of Leeds, as we progress with works at the Clarendon Building on the University of Leeds campus.
