About the project

We’re currently refurbishing Level 11 and Level 13 within The University of Leeds Social Sciences building. Home to Politics and International Studies, Leeds Social Sciences Institute and Sociology & Social Policy, the building also has a number of computer clusters.

The refurbishing project came about due to the University of Leeds requiring more office space, as well as their desire to provide up-to-date facilities to staff and students. The works include layout changes, new mechanical & electrical works to suit the new layout, new finishes – such as carpets – and decoration works.

Progress so far

The demolition works on the existing office spaces are now complete, with the relevant walls and finishes having been removed. New stud partition walls are currently being built to suit the new layout, and mechanical and electrical works have progressed - with alterations and necessary additions to the existing systems being fitted to suit the new layout.

Over the next two weeks

Over the next couple of weeks, there are going to be multiple works running, including mechanical and electrical works, joinery, ceiling works and decoration. Mechanical and electrical works will be continuing on from their current progress, whilst joinery works will be starting alongside the alterations to the ceiling grid. Decoration works will then be adding the finishing touches to the project before we hand over - just in time for returning staff and students to enjoy their new facilities.
